Original scholarship from the next generation of researchers. A peer-reviewed academic journal for sixth form students.
The Prelim publishes original research by sixth form students across five disciplines. We operate to the standards of academic publishing: rigorous peer review, constructive feedback, and editorial integrity.
Every submission receives detailed feedback from our reviewer pool. Accepted papers are published in quarterly print and digital issues, with authors receiving a physical copy of the full journal.
History, Philosophy, Classics, Religious Studies, and interdisciplinary humanities research.
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and experimental research.
Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Politics, Geography, and empirical social research.
Literary criticism, close reading, comparative analysis, and original interpretive scholarship.
Art History, Music, Theatre, Film Studies, and critical analysis of creative works.
Submission is free and open to any sixth form student in the UK. Papers undergo double-blind peer review by our panel of postgraduate researchers and subject specialists. We provide written feedback to every author, regardless of outcome.
Accepted papers incur an Article Processing Charge of £175, which includes a printed copy of the full issue in which your work appears. We maintain quality thresholds rather than acceptance quotas: if your research meets our standards, it will be published.
Join a community of sixth formers producing original scholarship. Submissions for our inaugural issue are now open.
